![]() The Chippewas return to Kelly Shorts after a convincing win in Indiana did not go according to plan. Tagged Arrested, Central Michigan, Chippewas, Felony, Thomas Rawls | Leave a comment ACC talent rises to the rop The Syracuse Orange leave Kelly Shorts with a blowout win This week has not been a good week for football, obviously this does not come close to the issues the NFL is facing, but this problem hits home a little more by affecting the university I attended and the college football team I support. As a student who paid (will be paying) their tuition, it is really frustrating to see these athletes take their opportunity for granted and make the football program, team, university, and football players themselves look bad. ![]() These student athletes are getting a full scholarship to play football at our university and they will often go waste it by breaking the law and doing stupid things. Sadly this is not the first time we have had a Michigan transfer run into legal trouble. His absence will leave the Chippewas scrambling, especially while Titus Davis remains off of the field as well. Rawls was likely to be the biggest contributor for the Chippewa offense this season after a stand out first two weeks. This news is disheartening for a number of reasons. This is all according to a Mont Pleasant Morning Star article published today. Today it was released that Thomas Rawls is facing 3 felony charges after stealing a purse at Soaring Eagle Casino and using two credit cards to by subs and gas. Prediction: Central Michigan 13- Kansas 24 I believe that the Chippewas will have a difficult time leaving Lawrence with a victory this Saturday afternoon. The play by the Jayhawks so far this season looks promising for the Chippewas, however with big holes in the running back and wide receiver position, and a gap in talent with big conference teams. The Jayhawks will try to control the game on the ground and get a win before they face the Texas Longhorns next weekend. This does not bode well for the Chippewas. Boasting talent from the Big 12 conference, Kansas is ranked 35th overall in the nation averaging over 240 yards a game on the ground. ![]() ![]() The Chippewas were exposed on the ground last week against an big conference opponent, and the Jayhawks look to do the same. This will also put more pressure on an inconsistent Cooper Rush to lead the team through the air. The absences will put a large burden on running back by committee in Saylor Lavalii and Devon Spalding among others who will make cameos in the backfield. However the Central is coming off of a big defeat to Syracuse at home and this week lost starting running back Thomas Rawls to felony charges with an indefinite suspension. The Chippewas may also be missing the big play threat in wide receiver Titus Davis for a fourth consecutive week as well. The Jayhawks start to the season is promising for the Chippewas on paper. The following week the Jayhawks traveled to Durham, NC and were crushed by the Duke Bluedevils. Beginning with a home victory against SE Missouri St by less than a touchdown. The Kansas Jayhawks are struggling to start the season. The Big 10 and ACC are checked off, now the Chippewas travel to Big 12 country. For the third consecutive week the Central Michigan Chippewas find themselves up against a big 5 conference opponent in Kansas.
